2015 Hamilton Urban Design and Architecture Awards - North End Free Library and Bench
The creation of a 'take a book, leave a book' gathering place where neighbours can meet. This project is about creating community and celebrating literacy.
Located in front of the CGS-designed Scime / Curran Residence, the North End Free Library features a wood slat bench on a steel frame that wraps up and around to support a cantilevered free library box. The lantern-like free library is crafted from stained hardwood and botanical infused resin panels. Books are imprinted with a custom stamp, designed by CGS.
